Which Corby Resident is plotting a Tamworth Victory?

Wednesday Jul 31, 2019

Tamworth Head of Senior Football Tom Baillie (pictured left) lives just ten minutes from Corby’s Steel Park Ground, but he’s not letting local allegiances remove the focus of achieving another pre-season victory for the Lambs on Wednesday evening.

"I have never managed a team against Corby before, but I was manager of Kettering when we had a ground share there. The people at Corby are good people and some of the people involved used to play for me. Ash Robinson, Elliot Sandy and Gary Mulligan were all part of my Kettering team. Corby are a good team and were unfortunate to miss out on promotion last season. They have a history of developing good players and this will be our biggest test to date on a great pitch."

Looking back at the game against Cefn Druids on Saturday Tom was delighted with the performance. "We were superb, especially in the first half. At times the passing and speed was unbelievable. If we can replicate that in the league then we will cause teams real problems. We were defensively strong with an excellent goalkeeper in Jas Singh who just breeds confidence in the back four. When we looked at the stats we had players covering between 11-13 kms in 90 mins which is a fabulous work rate. It was great to go in the clubhouse after the game and hear the excitement of the fans in how the squad is taking shape."

The management team of Andrew, Gary and Tom have now come to a decision on their 18 man squad which will soon be revealed. However, there may be one new signing arriving at the Lamb this week who can provide options at right back if negotiations go to plan.
