The Lambs fans finally met their new Manager when the Directors introduced former Wrexham FC manager Andy Morrell as the clubs new manager in the clubhouse prior to the regular Tuesday night training session. After the introductions Andy answered questions from the fans and the press. Andy then held his first training session under the floodlights with his new squad of players watched by the fans.
In an interview with the Tamworth Heralds Matt Panter, Andy Morrell said that he is aiming to bring Conference Premier football back to Tamworth FC. But he warned that success would not happen overnight and says his arrival at Tamworth, on a two-and-a-half year deal, is the start of a long-term project. "It's fantastic to be here at Tamworth," he said. "I am so looking forward to it, it's unbelievable. I just felt this was too good an opportunity to turn down. "It's club that I know a bit about as my family are from the area and I grew up around this place. "I've played at Tamworth a lot over the years and had some good and bad times to be fair. "I just think that it's a great job to come and get because I think Tamworth are a Conference Premier club which has just gone through a tough couple of years. "It's been difficult for everyone but I want to do my bit to try and get the smiles back on people's faces. "And hopefully I can get the players playing again, get them playing good football, at a tempo, with pace and then we will see where that takes us.
Andy has also been registered as a player but due to his last club was Wrexham we now have to wait for the international transfer certificate (ITC) to be sent to the FA from the FA of Wales.
