Weekend Roundup

Sunday Nov 24, 2019

While Tamworth first team were not in action on Saturday afternoon, there was plenty of action to be interested in over the weekend

In the Buildbase Trophy two games being played had a direct impact on future fixture scheduling. First up was Hednesford Town v Coalville Town, where a draw would have put Tuesday's Staffs Senior Cup tie in doubt. However, a 2 - 1 win for the Pitmen means that we will travel to Keys Park on Tuesday evening for a 7.45 kick off.
The second game was being played at Wealdstone where Royston Town were the visitors. With Royston winning 3 - 2 it means that our home league game against them on 14 December will have to be rearranged.
Tamworth’s lead at the top of the table was cut to just one point as Banbury United grabbed a late goal through former striker Janaai Gordon to claim all three points in a 2-1 victory. However, the Oxfordshire club have now played 18 games for their 33 points - three more games than the Lambs. Hednesford remain in 3rd with 29 points while Nuneaton move up to 4th. They claimed a point at Hitchin Town in a 1-1 draw and now have 27 points from 17 played, 2 more than Tamworth.
Stourbridge are building up a fixture mountain. Today they travelled to Lancaster City in the FA Trophy, but this was for the previous round as they were involved in FA Cup action on the original date. Having come away with a 2 - 1 victory they now have another game to fit in alongside a minimum of at least 4 league games to catch up with Tamworth.

Our young Academy side travelled to Gresley in a League Trophy game and made it 11 wins out of 11 for the season in a 3 - 1 win.

On Sunday our Ladies Team put on a fabulous performance to draw 2-2 with league leaders Sutton Rangers Lionesses. Despite going two goals down the Ladies fought back to claim a share of the points and in so doing became the first team to take points of the visitors this season.
