WEEKEND BLUE SQUARE BET PREMIER PREVIEW - by Alan Alger from Blue Square
Despite three consecutive draws, Fleetwood Town possess the longest current unbeaten run in the Blue Square Bet Premier. The Lancashire side produced another stalemate in their live home clash with Cambridge United on Sunday, when the visitors arguably had the better of the game. Micky Mellon's team are on a ten game streak without defeat with an equal number of victories and draws in that time - five apiece. Their strong start has been based on a defence that has only conceded more than once in a game on just two occasions. They travel to Altrincham on Saturday sitting fourth in the table and odds-on favourites at 5/6 to return to winning ways. A fourth consecutive draw for Fleetwood is 12/5 and a win for bottom club Altrincham is 14/5.
The game of the day is at the Broadfield Stadium where third placed Newport County travel to take on table-toppers Crawley Town. This is part of a tough run of away trips for Dean Holdsworth's team. The Exiles have already been to AFC Wimbledon, Luton, Rushden, Grimsby, Darlington and Cambridge - sides that formed the top of the title betting market in pre-season. They have eight points from a possible 18 in those matches, which is a decent haul. Newport are the 3/1 outsiders as the away team here with Crawley the odds-on favourites at 4/5.
Gary Mills left Tamworth to take over at York City in midweek. His first game in charge of The Minstermen will be a home one against Bath City. He is priced at 8/11 to get off to a winning start, but looks to have a tough job on his hands. Ironically City's last win came against Mills' former side on the 25th of September but since then they have only scored one goal in four matches - including three recent defeats. Mills will be looking for an immediate response from his squad and with a new boss to impress they may be a good bet to beat a Bath side that only have one win on the road.
Tamworth get used to life without Mills as they host Rushden & Diamonds at the Lamb. The home side begin the game on a run of six matches without a win. Consequently they are the 17/10 outsiders against a Rushden outfit that sit sixth in the table with four wins in their last seven matches. Justin Edinburgh's team have found that degree of consistency at an appropriate stage of the season. It's worth noting that they made a late run to capture a play-off place in the last campaign yet they have four more points at this stage and are five places higher than at the same point last season. An away win is priced at just 13/10.
Mansfield Town slumped from first place in the table to seventh in the space of just two weeks and four winless matches. They visit Darlington on Saturday who are also struggling for form. Mark Cooper's team are also without a win in four matches. The market pitches Darlington as the Evens favourites but punters will surely want to tread carefully with two teams that are in the midst of bad runs.
Cambridge United put in a good performance at Fleetwood to put a halt to their losing run. The U's are still not out of the woods but can get back on the right path with victory over Barrow on Saturday at odds of 4/5. Luton Town have had an extended break since losing at home to Crawley and will be happy that the distance to top spot is not insurmountable - standing at nine points, with a game in hand. The Hatters are odds-on at 10/11 for a trip to free-scoring Eastbourne Borough. The Sussex side are the top scorers in the division and are averaging nearly three strikes per game at home so this will be a difficult game for Richard Money's men.
AFC Wimbledon are the shortest priced favourites of the weekend at 4/9 as they welcome Gateshead to South West London. A comfortable home win could put the Wombles on top depending on Crawley's result. Grimsby Town also look like solid odds-on home favourites at 4/7 for the visit of Southport. The Sandgrounders have only won once in seven away matches and are one of the lowest scoring sides in the division. After a decent unbeaten run towards the end of September, Wrexham have stumbled in recent weeks. I fancy them to bounce back at Hayes & Yeading where they are attractively priced at 7/5 to scoop all three points.
Marcus Law continues his fantastic unbeaten run as a manager which he has carried into his role at Kettering from his previous job at Barwell. The Poppies are Evens favourites to win at home to Kidderminster on Saturday - a price that looks nap material. The relegation clash between Forest Green and Histon at the New Lawn seems to have goals written all over it and I'd want to be on ‘over 2.5 goals' at 7/10 regardless of where the points end up.

Kettering Town (to beat Kidderminster Harriers)
Cambridge United (to beat Barrow)
Wrexham (to beat Hayes & Yeading United)
