U21's Ground Concorde

Tuesday Nov 1, 2016

 Emphatic win on Saturday!

 MFL Challenge Bowl
Tamworth FC 8 (Shiels 2, McKenzie 3, Dodd, Stroud, King)
 Kings Heath Concorde U21 0

It was an unusually early kick off for the young Lambs as the First team were also at the GST Gas Services Stadium today, but nonetheless the same number of supporters showed including the growing base of season ticket holders.

Jorna Moulton and Michael Wright were with loan club Westfields against another young loanee in Jack Cook's Coleshill Town. Senior call ups for Kai Davis and Aaron Opoku further showed the progress in the Under 21 set up since it's inception only 18 months ago. Ellis Millard returned from concussion to bolster the back line.

It was a rapid start for the hosts as they found themselves 2-0 up with only seven on the clock. Curtis Shiels drove in the opener from a rebound after Tamworth were awarded a free kick for a back pass before Nathaniel McKenzie slotted home from John Dodd's pass.

Kyle King, a nuisance all game, went round the keeper before laying it off to Shiels for 3-0 just after the half hour, McKenzie then turned provider just before half setting up John Dodd to sweep the ball home forcefully on 41.

It didn't take long for the reds to continue their good start, McKenzie and Jordan Featherstone both connecting with a corner but the former got the decisive touch. There was a brief moment of respite when Lee Fryers delivered a new match ball from the touchline... straight onto the referee's back from 40 yards, the gaffer avoiding sanction.

Ryan Stroud celebrated for the second time this week when the big centre half rose highest at the back stick to crash in a header for 6-0 from another Curtis Shiels corner. Kyle King made it 2 in as many games when his driven effort flew into the bottom corner after some industrious play from Jordan Featherstone. There was still time for another with McKenzie completing his hat-trick on 88 to seal another comfortable win for the U21's.

Next week (and November as a whole) sees tougher opposition for Lee Fryers' men as they travel to Two Gates for the second round of the Birmingham FA Amateur Cup before ties against Coleshill Town U21's, West Midland Academy and Fazely Cup action away at Coton Green U18's.

Lineup: Hartopp (GK), Dawson (May), Millard (C), Stroud, Barnes, Stokes (Dixon), Shiels, Featherstone, Dodd (Sinclair), King, McKenzie.
