Live Blue Square Bet Premier Preview - Kettering Town v Crawley Town
Live Blue Square Bet Premier Preview - Kettering Town v Crawley Town by Alan Alger from Blue Square
Fresh from their weekend exploits in the FA Cup and with a trip to Old Trafford to look forward to, Crawley Town resume their Blue Square Bet Premier title campaign at Kettering tonight. The Premier Sports cameras will be at Rockingham Road to see if Steve Evans' men can move back to the top of the table with a victory and the TV company may have picked up another Glasgow born manager as a subscriber tonight as a certain Sir Alex Ferguson scouts his 5th round FA Cup opposition. Crawley are the odds-on favourites at 6/10 to beat the Poppies tonight, with a home win offered at 22/5 and a draw available at 13/5.
Crawley have the best away record in the division and they take on a team that up until a few weeks ago possessed the worst home record. Kettering's fortunes as hosts have improved since then with two straight wins against Fleetwood and Eastbourne. They still share the record for the lowest amount of home wins (3) with Altrincham. Crawley's defensive record away from home is outstanding, just eight goals conceded in 13 matches. A clean-sheet in the FA Cup at Torquay on Saturday was achieved with fantastic contributions from Kyle McFadzean and ‘man of the match' Pablo Mills. The home side will need to be on their game tonight if they get anything from that centre-back pairing. It's very tempting to back what would be an eighth clean-sheet in away league matches for the Red Devils at 5/4 this evening.
The teams met just three weeks ago in the reverse fixture at the Broadfield Stadium when Kettering took an early lead from a Jean-Paul Marna penalty. Marcus Law's team then tried to hold on to that lead with a dogged defensive display until Crawley's quality shone through midway through the second-half to eventually run out 2-1 winners. Crawley are 7/1 to win 2-1 tonight on the correct score market and 8/1 on our special markets to repeat their win from behind. Marna is 9/1 to break the deadlock again in a first goalscorer market that Crawley dominate with their abundance of attacking options. The division's leading scorer and the hero from Plainmoor, Matt Tubbs is a 7/2 favourite in the market, but I always feel his strike partner Craig McAllister represents better value in matches - especially at tonight's 5/1.
Crawley to keep a clean-sheet at 5/4
Craig McAllister to score the first goal at 5/1
