A KEY piece of the jigsaw was put into place last week when Shane Clarke agreed a new deal here at The Lamb...

The talented midfield man, who was joint top scorer with nine goals last term, has targets in mind as he looks ahead to 2015/16.

“If we can keep the nucleus of our key players together and add a bit of extra quality, there is no reason why we can’t be up there challenging,” said the former Lincoln City man. “We came close to the play-offs last season despite a slow start, so hopefully we can get some early momentum this time around, prove hard to beat and really push on.

“From a personal point of view, it would be nice to get into double figures in terms of goals. We tended to play to my strengths last season; the Gaffer recognised how effective I was going forward and getting on the end of things.

“That said, it’s all about the team. We have two excellent coaches in Andy Morrell and Mike Fowler who will bring the best out of us and really take the club forward.

“The whole feel of the place has changed. It’s a great environment to be in and I am delighted to be part of it.

“It’s also an exciting time for the fans and they have an important role to play too.”
