Tamworth Women win against Port Vale Ladies

Monday Sep 28, 2020

Ryan Hamilton reflect on Tamworth Women’s win against Port Vale Ladies in the West Midlands Regional League Division One North.

I’m pleased with the performance, we made a few changes giving starts to players who have trained well and put in some strong performances earning their places, having these quality players come in gave me the chance to rest and look after a few players in preparation for next week’s Women’s FA Cup tie.

The girls started well, we looked comfortable in possession, move the ball well, opened up channels nicely and caused Port Vale Ladies problems. Amiee has created a few chances and taken her goal really well, Portia showed great desire to get ahead of her marker and score the header for the second and Ella’s solo goal for the third was outstanding, to drive from so deep through the middle, show such agility to move past players and great technique with the finish, so impressive.

I think out of possession we were a bit sow to start with, sometimes allowing Port Vale Ladies to try and break out but once we switched on to their out ball, I think we dominated the game and looked very comfortable. To come away from home, score three very good goals and keep a clean sheet it very pleasing, especially with a few key players missing through injury.

I’m delighted for the girls and really proud of them, each and everyone of them has really stepped up and showed how good they are as not just individuals but as a team, we have a special group an I’m loving working with them.
