Tamworth vs Biggleswade Town Match Preview

Friday Nov 16, 2018

An Independent match preview of our game on Saturday from an aspiring journalist.

It may be the culmination of the UEFA Nations League opening phase this weekend and due to this there is a hiatus when it comes to the English top flight. At the same time though, there are no such rest breaks when we go lower down the league pyramid.

One of those many non-league teams that will be in action this weekend is Tamworth who play host to promotion hopefuls Biggleswade Town at The Lamb Ground, and it is fair to say that they will be looking for all three points as they look to push up into the top half of the table.

In terms of form going into this game, Tamworth have only won one of their last five league outings. That win came at home at Hitchin Town just under a fortnight ago, although perhaps that statistic is a little misleading at the same time.

The reason being is that they have drawn three of their last five league matches and they have all been goalless stalemates. A run of form that will make Biggleswade the favourites going into this game, and if you fancy a bet then why not take advantage of the many Ladbrokes sign up offers that are available at present.

Tamworth manager Dennis Greene will no doubt be bemoaning the Lambs failure to score as of late, and the concern is that if they don’t find their shooting boots anytime soon then the possibility of a play-off spot will be lost.

At present Tamworth currently find themselves 15th in the table and only four points clear of Lowestoft Town who occupy 20th and the first of the relegation places, but also only seven points away from 5th and a play-off berth. This shows the tight nature of the league and what a good or bad run could do for a team.

No matter what level you play at the basic principle is the same and that is the fact that goals are the currency that you win matches, something that this weekend’s hosts have failed to manage over the past weeks.

A drought that begs the question as to what they would give for a return to their early season form?
In the opening few weeks the highlight would have been getting the better of Lowestoft Town at their Crown Meadow ground by a score of three goals to one.

Opponents Biggleswade are just on the fringes on the play-off places going into this game and will have identified this clash as one where they can pick up maximum points and in turn continue their push for promotion come the end of the season.

Their bid may have been derailed last time out as they suffered a heavy defeat away at Leiston, however before then they were unbeaten in their last 11 matches. Again though, statistics can certainly be misleading as they have drawn six of those.

Both teams need a win for far differing reasons and both managers will be confident that it will be his men who come out on top.
