Tamworth Ladies Assistant Manager Speaks

Tuesday Jan 14, 2020

Following Tamworth Ladies excellent victory over Walsall on Sunday, Assistant Manager Danny Bray reflects on the performance .....

We’re delighted with the three points against a good side in Walsall Ladies.

I felt that we showed good quality with the ball and myself and Ryan were particularly happy with our attitude, desire and work rate without the ball, the energy and aggression to win the ball back high up the pitch was very evident in our performance and that was pleasing.

We changed our shape today opting for an extra midfielder in there to get between the lines and create the overload in central areas and we were very happy with how we played throughout. Having that extra midfielder in there allowed us to control large parts of the game and it’s a shame that Hannah Baker had to come off for us because she was influential in the game up to that point.

Credit to Walsall in the second half they changed their shape and tactics and they made it a lot harder to play through, I was very happy with our patience in possession and our decision making on the ball in that second half, our defence were solid throughout the game and we limited Walsall to very little throughout the game which again was pleasing.

This group of players are improving and learning more and more each week, they’re taking on board the information that we’re giving them applying it into their performances and they’re getting the rewards they deserve. Thank you again to everyone who came down to The Lamb to watch on Sunday. Your support is much appreciated by both players and coaches.

Tamworth Ladies play Leek Town Ladies Reserves on Sunday 19th January 2020 at The Lamb.
