MANAGER, Andy Morrell, has taken stock of how far things have progressed at the club since he took over the reins back in September...

“I am delighted with the progress that has been made so far,” he said. “You only have to look at where we are now compared to where we were back then, but this is only the start of the project.

“It’s taken a lot of determination, hard work and effort from a lot of people and that will continue.

“The way that the Academy has developed in such a short space of time is fantastic and we also have the Under-21 team for the new season, so we’re putting the foundations in place on which the first-team is being built.

“I have been able to keep most of the players that I wanted to from last season’s squad and now we have to find those young, hungry lads with the ability to fit in around them as we put the pieces of the jigsaw in place.

“It’s about getting the right characters into the team. Recruitment hasn’t been easy so far, if we’re being honest; there are a lot of clubs who have been splashing the cash, but I know that as long as we are patient and focussed, we will reap the rewards.

“We know what is required and we will be doing all that we can to achieve our objectives.”
