 'Smudger' looks ahead to Saturday!

When I came back to the club it was as Under 21 Manager and whether my first team caretaker role is for one, two or three games, I am honoured to be in charge and will do everything that I can to begin to try and improve our results, which let`s face it have been very disappointing. It has, though, been a crazy season losing two Managers but now is the time for everyone to pull in the same direction and be singing from the same hymn sheet. It`s time to begin to get some points on the table and for the players to start to show that they are all better players than this season`s results suggest.

I believe that we have a brilliant squad of players already at the football club but I also think they are in need of a shake-up as well. It is time for them as a group to step up to the plate and start putting in performances and getting results that this club deserve. In many ways it has been a difficult season for everyone, losing two Managers, and there have been a whole lot of new players coming into the club. It does take time to gel but I don`t think that some of them understand what playing for Tamworth Football Club is all about. The minimum requisite for any player, of any club, is to go out there and perform and give your level best and one hundred per cent effort. If you did then fans will respond to that and get behind you but if you don`t that`s where the criticism comes in.

This club now needs passion, desire and commitment from everyone, between now and the end of the season, we need to come together and re-create the family atmosphere and spirit that the club once had. If we can do that then there is no reason whatsoever why we cannot begin to climb up the table. For my first game in charge I don`t think it matters whether we are playing Bedworth, or Kettering to be honest, but people will look at the table and say you should be winning that game. Football as we all know isn`t played on paper, but I want the lads to go out there this afternoon and try and put the game to bed as quickly as possible and to enjoy themselves in the process.

Yes, Bedworth will prove a difficult test for us, but I do believe that we have a very good squad of players that should be more than capable of winning football matches at this level. Hopefully, they will begin to show that. Saturday could be my first and final game in charge, at the time of writing I`m not sure of what is happening, but obviously I would love to be considered for the role. However, that`s for the future, at the minute it is all about trying to get back to winning ways, so please get behind the boys and let`s hope that by around 5pm Saturday afternoon we are celebrating what would be three very important points.
