Jas aims for further clean sheets!

Lambs GK Jas Singh was in conversation with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald this week ahead of the key home Southern League fixture with Hitchin on Saturday. He started by expressing his delight with the current clean sheet record at the club. “Obviously it gives the lads a platform to work on if we keep clean sheets,” he said.

“The least we are going to do then is draw. So if clean sheets are mine and the back four’s contribution to the team, that’s what we have got to do. In some of the close games when the gaffer first came in, we were losing them. The fact we are now getting draws from them or winning, as we did in the replay on Tuesday, it can only be a good thing.”

Singh believes that having a settled back four – Kristian Green, Joel Kettle, Charlie Jemson and Jordan Gough – has helped. “We had a lot of injuries in the back four early on,” he said. “But we have managed to put out the same set of lads for a few games now and that can only help.We have put in a lot of hard work together. We have gone back to basics with our clearances and dealing with everything really. I think Joe Magunda coming into the midfield has helped too. I think that’s given us a little bit more security."

Singh admits it has taken time to get used to new manager Dennis Greene’s demands but feels players are now improving. “Any new manager wants to bring his own ideas to the table,” he said. “He has brought his own players in and clearly they are playing and he wants them to do things a certain way. The other lads have had to adapt. It’s part and parcel of football when a new manager comes in. You have to adapt or get left behind. I think the likes of Tyrell Waite and Chris Lait have had to change their games and adapt but they are starting to reap the rewards.”
