Shrewsbury Juniors Ladies 0 Tamworth Ladies 6

Monday Jan 27, 2020

 Victory for Tamworth Ladies.

I’m really pleased with the way we battled today, we showed that again we can adapt. The pitch conditions meant we couldn’t play the ball as quickly as normal so we asked the girls to travel with the ball more today and engage players one v one’s. They listened to this and our game plan as normal, they carried it out to the best of their ability and credit to them, we dominated the game.

It was nice to bring Kelsi Back, Grace Dickens and Kady Donohue back into the starting eleven after each of them have put in some fantastic performances from the bench recently, they showed today their quality and why we were so keen to get them playing today. We showed today that we can do the hard yards on a heavy pitch, work hard for each other and maintain standards when it would have been easy to switch off.

I’m also delighted for Jess Harris and Melissa Ward to score their first goals for the club, both were asked to play different roles today, Jess out on the left midfield and Melissa in the centre of the park, rather than their normal defensive positions, again this just shows the adaptability and the willingness of our squad.
