Interested in joining in Sept 2017?
Tuesday December 20th will be the first chance for local footballers to trial for a place in the second intake (commencing September 2017) of our popular full time football and education scholarship programme The programme (in partnership with renowned education provider VLUK) will be entering its second season in 2017/18. The trial will commence at 2.00pm, with participants required to report to The Lamb by 1.30pm. We envisage that the trial will finish by 5.00pm at the very latest.
Students are attached to Tamworth Football Club on a full time basis, and combine daily football training and fixtures with a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, which is the equivalent of 3 A Levels.
The football element of the programme takes place under the supervision of UEFA A Licence Coaches Mike Fowler and Claus Jorgensen, who are both also attached to the Tamworth F.C. first team. Medical and Sports Science support is provided by Tamworth F.C. first team Sports Therapist Kieran Berry. From an Educational point of view, VLUK Sports Lecturers are based on site, and deliver lessons in our newly constructed Classroom complex.
Trial places are available to current U16's (born between September 1st 2000 and August 31st 2001). Strong priority will be given to boys who are predicted to secure 5 A*-C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths. Additionally, a limited amount of places may be available to current U17's (born between September 1st 1999 and August 31st 2000) who also meet the academic criteria, for example, transferring from a Level 2 BTEC Sports course.
