The future is clear for Tamworth FC's up and coming stars after Steve Bloor, Manager of McDonald’s Tamworth Ankerside Shopping Centre, announces an exciting new partnership as part of McDonald’s commitment to supporting local football and active lifestyles.
The partnership came about after the club’s Reserve Team Coach, Darren Fulford, suggested a partnership with the local McDonald’s restaurant. Darren juggles the commitments of coaching this team with a full-time job as a window cleaner, including the windows at Steve’s McDonald’s restaurant.
Steve, a keen football fan, said: “I’m very keen to give something back to the local community and help Tamworth FC's potential new stars. Football is Britain’s national game and it plays a vital role in encouraging children and young people to get the exercise they need, as well as learning team-building skills and making friends.”
To ‘kick off’ the partnership, McDonald’s will provide kit and equipment including balls, bibs and training cones. Steve will also be providing sponsorship for one or more of Darren’s team to attend the McDonald’s FA-accredited football coaching programme so that they can support the club and raise football skills locally.
McDonald’s is committed to promoting active lifestyles through its grassroots football programme.
To date, the company has supplied more than 190,000 new footballs and donated over £4.5 million worth of kit. In partnership with the Football Association (FA), it has also trained 11,850 volunteer community coaches across the UK since 2002.
