Dan Preston has more reason than most to look forward to the new season...
The talented central defender saw his career threatened by a fractured skull that he sustained in our 2-1 victory at Leamington in January.
Subsequent internal bleeding meant that he was unable to resume training until medics gave him the all-clear.
Now that the green light has been received, he can’t wait to start making up for lost time.
“It’s a big relief to finally get the go-ahead,” he admitted. “I have felt fine for a while, to be honest, but had to wait for it to be confirmed by the hospital.
“It was frustrating, but in situations like that you have to put yourself into the hands of the experts and they have given me to the all-clear now to play again.
“I was warned at the time that it could possibly have been a career-threatening injury, so I feel lucky to be able to look forward to the new season knowing that I will be able to be involved again.
“My aim now is to get back to how I was playing before the injury. Having had such a lengthy lay-off, I just want to get back out there again and pre-season can’t come around quickly enough for me. I miss playing.
“It will be great to be part of it again. I’m looking forward to what 2015/16 holds in store.”
