Lambs chances in warm up matches assessed!

You can see a full list of the fixtures with dates and times on our site.

Although the main aim of these games is to prepare for the long and hard season that starts in August, a few positive results help with team spirit and confidence.

Andy Morrell will use the games to get all the players fitness up to speed with the players having had two months away from competitive football along with trying different combinations of players to see who works best with who.

The coaching staff will also try different formations and impress upon and practice the style they want to use throughout the season. The emphasis will be on performance and building a team spirit.

It will also be a great chance for the fans to run the rule over our new signings and see how they fit in with our returning players.

Two away games get the ball rolling with trips to Basford United, near Nottingham and members of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One South and Evesham United, members of the Evo-Stik Southern League Div 1 South & West.

We then open our home pre-season fixtures with the visit of two Welsh teams on the same day, Cefn Druids from the Welsh Premier League and Penybont from The Welsh League Division One. This will be a chance to give the whole squad a run out so fans and coaching staff alike get a look at everyone.

An away trip to Northern Premier League Barwell is then followed by the visit of Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors. This will be the first big test from a team in a higher division.

A trip to local rivals and another Northern Premier league team, Hednesford Town follows with local bragging rights up for grabs before our final home friendly and biggest game against Aston Villa.

This will be a great chance on a Friday evening to see a Championship team against our lads who should be nearly at peak performance with only a week to go before the league opener.

The next afternoon we travel to Stafford Rangers, another Northern Premier League team, to round off our matches.

The results will be of no consequence come April 2018 but how the team gel in July in these friendlies and gain confidence from some good performance and results could make the difference in the final league standings. Check out the odds here of our chances in the league.
