Playoff Push Still Alive

Thursday Mar 21, 2019

 Smith not giving up!

Gary Smith told Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald this week that The Lambs playoff chase is far from over. And with Smith and Andy Danylyszyn having overseen six wins and a draw from their eight games in charge, it’s easy to see why they remain positive.

“When we first took over, Andy (Danylyszyn) said to the players, we are going to go for the play-offs,” said Smith. “I don’t think the players really believed that we could achieve it. But the run we are on at the minute suggests otherwise and if we can continue to win games there’s no reason why we can’t. We are up to tenth, we have gained two more points in the past week. There are seven games to go and although it’s a tall order, it’s not impossible."

Smith continued “Part of me wishes we had had another five games at the helm because I honestly think we would have clawed the points back by now. But we will keep on battling to try and achieve that goal. All we can do is win our games and hope others slip up. We will keep pushing and we will see where we end up. We are not conceding goals and we are scoring them. That’s promotion form.”

“There’s still time and anything can happen. Teams up above us could be dropping points all over the place. As long as we stick to what we are planning, taking it game by game and keep picking up the points, who knows. Whatever happens, we want to finish as high as possible because it will give us something to build on in preparation for next season as well. It sets a good standard, a good place for the boys to focus on for next season.”
