New leagues set to kick off this month!
A chance to play on the brand new pitch at The Lamb – for just £15 a match - is on offer for Tamworth footballers after plans were announced for two new charity 6 a side leagues in the town.
Leisure Leagues - who have been running 5 and 6 a side football competitions in the town for twenty years – will be expanding their portfolio of leagues in August with two nights at the home of Tamworth FC and are doing so by offering games for £15 on Monday evenings, together with a free kit whichever league you join.
A delighted Head of Leisure Leagues New Business, David Perkins, admitted he couldn’t wait to get started: “It is a marvellous addition to Tamworth, something that will benefit everyone in the local area and beyond and we are thrilled that we can be part of it.
“Tamworth has always been part of our history – and it was one of the first places we started leagues in – now we very much see this as the next chapter in that long legacy and we look forward to offering the leagues to even more sections of the community than we do already and enjoying a long and fruitful partnership with Chairman Mr. Andrews and also everyone else at Tamworth FC and seeing these leagues thrive for many years to come.
The competitions, which kick off early next month, will take place on Sunday and Monday evenings and are both free to join, and any profits from them will be donated to charities and good causes, including Cancer Research UK, Blind Children UK and The Dogs Trust.
All the matches will be officiated by qualified referees, and the multi-division format will see all standards catered for.
Plans were announced in the spring for the state of the art new pitch in the town. After consultation with the council, 18 months of research and the endorsement of manager Andy Morrell, will include a state-of-the-art Football Turf 3G pitch in time for the 2016-17 campaign.
