Newton "Salford a Massive Game"

Thursday Mar 2, 2017

Frontman looks forward to weekend home clash!

With Salford City the visitors to the GST Gas Services Stadium at The Lamb this weekend, Lambs number 9 Danny Newton caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald to offer his thoughts on the game.

Newton (pictured above with Ross Dyer during the reverse fixture back in October) said "Salford is going to be a massive game for us now. It's the business end of the season and every match is big for us now if we want to achieve a play-off spot."

"We need to win games now and we need to start on Saturday. If we can string a run of, say, four wins together we will put ourselves back in with a shout. We are more than capable of doing that but we know it's time to deliver."

Newton also spoke of his frustration following another disallowed goal away at AFC Fylde last Saturday. "We were looking at it the other day actually and it's the fifth one I have had disallowed!" he said.

"We have looked back over the videos and some are perfectly good goals. I could have more than 20 goals now – I'm not sure the referees like me!"

Newton felt his disallowed goal at Fylde was an example of the luck the Lambs have had at times. "Fylde was always going to be a tough place to go with the way they are playing," he said. But we didn't have the rub of the green at times in the game and it could have been different. It's frustrating but we just have to take the positives from the performance into this weekend."

As always, tickets start from as little as £12 for adults, £7 for concessions, and just £2 for juniors. We need as much support as possible to help us try and secure the victory!
