NEW BOY, Danny Newton, is relishing the challenge that stands before him here at The Lamb after becoming Andy Morrell’s first summer capture...
The 24 year-old, who was skipper and leading scorer at Conference North rivals, Leamington, last term, attracted interest from a number of clubs, but has brought into the ‘Tamworth FC vision’.
“I was really impressed by what Andy Morrell and Mike Fowler had to say,” he said without hesitation. “The way they operate and the plans they have for the future development of the club are fantastic. I have bought into their vision and can’t wait to get started.
“There were a few other clubs interested in me, but coming here just felt right. It’s a big move for me and one that I intend to grab with both hands.
“I can learn a lot here and feel that I can be part of something really successful. I want to keep on improving and working under Andy, who has achieved so much in the game, I will do that.
“I base my game around a high work-rate and managed to reach 20 goals last season for a team that found itself in the lower reaches of the table, so hopefully the Tamworth fans will see the best of me and I can thrive here.
“The opportunity to challenge for honours is something that excites me. It’s clear to see already that I have come into a positive environment.”
