Experience in abundance

Tamworth today signed midfielder David Oldfield who has commanded transfer fees totalling £900,000 during his career which has taken in the likes of Manchester City and Leicester City.

Born in Australia, the player has been with Stafford this season, making 12 appearances in Blue Square Premier.

Although he turned 39 this year, he prides himself on his fitness and brings a wealth of experience to the squad.

Starting as an apprentice at Luton, in 1989 Man City paid £600,000 for his services but after 36 league and cup appearances he moved on 10 months later to Leicester for £150,000. A loan spell at Millwall followed before another £150,000 move took Oldfield to Luton in the summer of 1995 and he went on to play nearly 150 times for the Hatters.

After that a series of free transfers saw his play for Stoke, Peterborough, Oxford in two spells and then Stafford. Oldfield joins Tamworth as a non-contract player.

In addition, manager Gary Mills has made the loan move of Graeme Law from Farsley Celtic into a permanent deal, the defender / midfielder signing a contract to the end of the season.
