New Striker Speaks

Waite on hopes for the season!

Lambs hitman Tyrell Waite took time out last week to catch up with Matt Panter of The Tamworth Herald. Waite began by discussing his hopes for 2018/19.

“It’s a big season for us" he said. “As a team, we want to go straight back up. This club should never have gone down last season but it did and the aim has to be immediate promotion. From my point of view, as an individual, I want to get back to playing every game. I want to be top goalscorer here. I haven’t set a target as yet. But I need to be somewhere in double figures for the season.”

And Waite is confident that can happen, playing alongside Asante. “Akwasi is one of the lads I already know,” he said. “We have known each other for a while and I think that will help us. I know the gaffer (Mike Fowler) wants us to form a strike partnership and I’m sure we can. As an attacking force, I think we can be a real threat.”

Waite is also hoping that working alongside Fowler can help his long-term ambitions of a return to the Football League.

“I have played at Notts County and I know I can play at that level,” said Waite. I know I need to perform on a consistent basis and make sure I get a regular place in the team. I believe Tamworth can help me. It’s a club that has shown it can bring players in and push them on again, as was shown with the likes of Danny Newton. That was another positive for me when signing,” Waite added.
