THE LAMBS played out a goalless draw with Wrexham on Saturday in what was another worthwhile exercise for Andy Morrell’s team...
“It was tough conditions out there,” admitted Morrell. “The heat played its part and we didn’t have as much of the ball as we would have liked against higher League opposition, but we kept our shape well, which was pleasing.
“There were plenty of positives. We defended well and kept a clean sheet against a good team. I told the lads that there would be games where we will have to play with less ball and this was a useful work-out for us.
“I thought that the centre halves did well; they are young and work hard, but I need one more as we are a bit light in that area. Up front Ross and Danny worked their socks off and it was good to be able to give some of the lads a full 90 minutes.
“We’ve got some good momentum at the moment and it is being backed up by a positive, winning mentality in the dressing room.
“I can’t ask for much more at this stage. Now we move on to the next challenge at Mickleover on Tuesday.
“This will give us yet another different test, plus we’ll be able to get more game time into the lads. That is what we need right now.”
It will be our first-ever game against Mickleover Sports on Tuesday evening. Kick-off is 7.30pm at the Don Amott Leisure Group Arena, Station Road, Mickleover, Derbyshire DE3 9FE.
