Midweek Premiership Preview

Monday Apr 1, 2019

With only two games in the Southern League Central Division this midweek, we look to the Premiership matches for a football fix.

Title defending Manchester City play their 'game in hand' over Liverpool at home to Cardiff on Wednesday.

City are firm favourites at home to gain the victory and jump up to top spot and two points clear of Liverpool with 6 matches remaining. Cardiff travel up north on the back of great performance against Chelsea, feeling very hard done by to not come out of that game with any points. Manager Warnock was bemoaning several incorrect refereeing decisions that cost his team.

There is no value with the hosts 1/12, the draw is 10/1 and Cardiff 20/1.

Elsewhere Arsenal host Newcastle tonight and a win would see them back in the top four and a Champions League place. Newcastle are hopeful one more victory would secure Premiership status for next season and the sooner that is reached the better for their passionate fans.

Arsenal are 4/11, the draw 22/5 and Newcastle 8/1.

Watford can relegate Fulham on Tuesday with a home victory and also push themselves up to 7th place in what would be 'the top of the rest' in the Premier League.

Also on Tuesday Manchester United travel to Wolves in a rematch of their FA Cup match a few weeks ago where Wolves triumphed. Despite that result Manchester United are favourites at 21/20 with Wolves at 29/20 and the draw 5/2/

Wednesday sees Brighton travel to Chelsea, who are desperate for points in their battle for a Champions League spot. Defeat for Brighton could see them dragged into a relegation battle.

Finally Tottenham host Crystal Palace in a North v South London derby. Palace won last Saturday to ease their relegation worries but Tottenham really need the points to stay in the top four.

Tottenham are strong favourites at 4/9, the draw is 16/5 and Palace are 13/2.

There are some interseting games for various reasons with many teams still having lots to play for at both ends of the table. This will make selecting outcomes very difficult in what is a very competitive Premier league.
