Latest Scholarship Trial Details

Wednesday Jun 7, 2017

Very limited space left for 2017/18 intake!

We are still seeking to fill the final couple of places for the second intake on to our popular full time Football and Education Scholarship programme. The next trial is set to take place on the morning of Saturday June 17th at The GST Gas Services Stadium at The Lamb, as to avoid clashes with GCSE examinations.

The current scholars were invited to St George's Park, the home of English football, today by Professional Football Association (PFA) Coach Educators to assist with a UEFA B training course.

Students are attached to Tamworth Football Club on a full time basis, and combine daily football training and fixtures with a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, which is the equivalent of 3 A Levels. The educational delivery occurs at the ground in our bespoke classroom facility, and is delivered and overseen by sports education industry leaders VLUK.

The football element of the programme takes place under the supervision of UEFA A Licence Coaches Mike Fowler and Claus Jorgensen, who are both also attached to the Tamworth F.C. first team. Medical and Sports Science support is provided by Tamworth F.C. first team Sports Therapist Kieran Berry.

Trial places are available to current U16's (born between September 1st 2000 and August 31st 2001). Strong priority will be given to boys who are predicted to secure 5 A*-C grades at GCSE, including English and Maths. Additionally, a limited amount of places may be available to current U17's (born between September 1st 1999 and August 31st 2000) who also meet the academic criteria, for example, transferring from a Level 2 BTEC Sports course, or have completed year one of a Level 3 BTEC Sports course at another College or football club.
