Following Thursday's GCSE results, Monday September 3rd will see the latest intake of students on to our popular fulltime football and education programme, based here at The Lamb, in partnership with industry leading vocational education provider VLUK.

Scholarship graduate Junior Mpofu featured for the first team on the opening day of the season, while current second year Chandler Pegg also has first team appearances to his name. A host of players from last seasons FA Youth Cup team (who equalled the best club performance in 84 years before falling to Fleetwood Town of League One in extra time), including Ethan Hetherington, Aidan Jeynes, Harrison James, and Declan Somel also got pitch time in pre season.

However, it's not just on the field where students have excelled. Several of last seasons second year players have accepted places at University for 2018. Josh Derrick will pursue a football industry career at UCFB (University Campus of Football Business) which is based both at Wembley Stadium and The Etihad. Jack Ryan will study Sports Coaching at Staffordshire University. Rahiem Faulder will study for a Foundation Degree in Community Football Development, in partnership with Birmingham City's Community Department and The EFL.

In addition to the above, Ryan McEvoy has been employed by the club as a part time Academy and Community Coach, while progressing to our U21 side. Fortune Maphosa was scouted an offered a full time place at The Players Academy, residential programme for players who have been released from the professional game having spent most of their time in the system. Dexter Walters also represented our U19 side last season, before his recent transfer to Coventry City.

Students will follow either a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport, or an Extended Diploma for the most academically able (the equivalent of three A Levels in terms of UCAS points). All lessons are delivered at The Lamb by our full time VLUK teaching staff. Players will also train on a minimum of four occasions a week, as well as getting the opportunity the play for Tamworth in The National League Youth Alliance and ECFA West Midlands on Wednesdays, and The Midland Junior Premier League and Midland League U21 East on Saturdays.
