The club were informed by Stefan Oakes that he will not be playing for the club again as he is moving to America in January to attend a trial for a new football club or should we say soccer club which is to be based in New York. The position that Stefan is hoping to secure also includes a coaching role which as he is now 32 years old is an area where he wants to move into. All at Tamworth FC wish Stefan every success in New York and thank him for his services to the club.
Due to the snow whch was forecasted for Wednesday the planned training session was cancelled as it was deemed not wise for players to be travelling long distances with the road network grinding to a halt. The weather will also put paid to any chance that the Boxing Day game against |Kettering Town will go ahead. The pitch is frozen solid and now has a 8-10" layer of snow on top. Unfortunately rules do not allow an official postponement until closer to the day of the game.
The forecast for Christmas Day is for temperatures to be below -10C and with water pipes already frozen there is no chance that if a thaw set in there is little opportunity forany burst pipes be repaired in time.A number of leaks were repaired during the last mini thaw and lot of extra lagging was added which should keep the number for repair down Also if temperatures did increase the pitch would become heavily waterlogged as the surface and drains under the pitch will stil be frozen. The water will have no where to run off to until a few days thaw has enabled the warmth to penetrate the surface.
On Thursday evening the Supporters Club Christmas Draw takes place in the Social club located inside the Lamb Ground, The evening also includes a free buffet so why not get out of the house and enjoy a social night with other Tamworth supporters. You may also walk home with a prize if lucky enough to see your ticket pulled out. Doors open from 7.00pm
Thursday will also give anyone wanting a New Years Eve ticket the opportunity to purchase one, they are selling well so do not leave it too late and miss out on what is always a good night in the clubhouse. Tickets cost £4 and are available from Jo at the Bar.
The pitch at Luton Town was covered with a layer of snow after therir recent home game against York City was called during the second half. The snow may have acted as a barrier to the freeze and with the Luton area not having as much snow as Tamworth there is still a chance that the match on the 28th December will go ahead. If it does supporters are reminded that it kicks off at 3.00pm.
With no home game since the 13th November we are now all hoping that the thaw after Christmas will come and it will at least stay long enough to give us the chance to get the home match against Kiddern=minster on. The match on January 3rd kicks off at 3.00pm.
