Lambs boss Andy Morrell was full of praise for his side's 3-0 win over the Aston Villa XI which featured Premiership star Jack Grealish under the watchful eye of Gordon Cowans and first team boss Tim Sherwood.
'They are and were a good side, very talented with league experience but we worked tirelessly and with shape, more than we probably will have to in the league and they definitely gave us a work out.'
I have spoken about the winning mentality before as we take steps towards the first game of the season but we have to keep our feet on the ground and go everywhere with the same attitude on mindset, whether it's against the likes of Villa in front of 1500 fans or away on a Tuesday night in front of a handful.
'A few of the lads have picked up knocks this evening and we'll be having a light training session tomorrow. We're now looking ahead to 08 August and the game against North Ferriby and with a small squad can't afford to risk anyone at the weekend but we will still go to Rushall wanting to continue in the same vein.'
'It was a good substitution,' Morrell joked about his final 15 minutes and 2 goals,'I probably have more enthusiasm or the game now that I did at 25 as I know that my playing days are getting shorter and so I will help out on the pitch if required, at any opportunity. Although the lads treat me as a player rather than a manager when I come on there is invariably added stability through increased talking and organisation and I will hopefully continue to help.'
