Lambs Triumph Over Town

 Boss reflects on vital win!

Andy Morrell caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald to reflect on the 3-2 victory against playoff rivals Harrogate Town on Saturday.

“I don't actually think we were as good against Harrogate as we were in the other two games," he said.

“Thankfully we have come out on the right end of a game this time as opposed to the last two. Those games were hard to take because the performances have been good. It has just been the final thing – the winning. But we dug in this time and got goals at crucial times and deserved to win the game."

“We have had two great games against Harrogate this season (4-3 and 3-2 wins). I like them as a team and like their manager (Simon Weaver) and staff."

The game was not without controversy as Harrogate's first goal, when the Lambs led 1-0, looked like a foul on keeper Dan Jezeph.

“I had a look at their first goal and for me it's a free-kick," said Morrell. One lad pushes him back and another player has come across his arm and touched him as he has caught it. So the players have impeded him but it seems like referees don't like us at the moment and we have been on the end of a couple of bad decisions at the moment."

“But we have managed to come out of the game with a win and that shows character. It's hard to come back from having a few decisions go against you. But we scored at key times, got back into the games at key times."

And Morrell was delighted to see on-loan Burton Albion midfielder Ben Fox bag the winner.

“He practices constantly and after every training session he is out, hitting balls from outside the box. We said to him, just keeping hitting the target and you never know. He had one that went over the bar in the first half with his left foot and then he has hit the target and it's gone it this time. I'm pleased for him. I like him, he's a young lad with a really good attitude and even when he has been out of the team he has pushed on to try and get back in it and that's a big plus for an 18-year-old."
