Lambs Edge Out Nirvana

Wednesday Oct 31, 2018

 4-3 victory for 21's!

Tamworth under-21s completed a second-half turnaround as they beat Leicester Nirvana 4-3 on a bitterly cold Saturday morning at Hamilton Park. The Lambs found themselves two goals behind inside 20 minutes but fought back through Callum Devlin and a superb hat-trick from Tyrone Ofori.

Tamworth could perhaps feel aggrieved to be two down so quickly after a goalkeeping error and a brilliant volley saw them slip behind despite neither side really controlling the game. Callum Devlin was given a golden chance to grab a goal back on 21 minutes, but his penalty was well saved. The resulting corner caused confusion in the Nirvana box, allowing Ofori to pounce to leave the Lambs trailing by one at the break.

A revitalised Lambs side came out with their tails up in the second period and just two minutes in, Devlin atoned for his penalty miss. Ofori’s cross wasn’t dealt with and Devlin snuck in to tap home from close in to level the game. James Medford made a nuisance of himself on the right wing, creating a handful of chances before supplying an inch-perfect cross for Ofori just before the hour mark and the frontman made no mistake from close-range, putting the Lambs in front for the first time in the game.

It took the hosts until the 75th minute to get back into the game as they started to press for an equaliser. A string of corners led to another equaliser with Nirvana slotting home at the back post as the game looked to end in a draw. Ofori had other ideas as he latched onto a superb ball over the top to slam the ball home, completing his hat-trick in the process two minutes later.
