Lambs at Banbury United

Thursday Dec 5, 2019

Tamworth travel to Banbury on Saturday in 1st v 2nd place clash.

Tamworth travel to Banbury United on Saturday in what is potentially the biggest game of the season so far. It is a 1st v 2nd clash in the Bet Victor Southern Premier Central League at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.

Banbury United have had a good season so far with a league record of P19 W 9 D7 L3 GF 27 GA 16 giving them a total of 34 points. They currently sit 3 points behind the Lambs but having played 3 games more. The club suffered a blow last week when leading scorer (and former Lamb) Jaanai Gordon chose to move on to Oxford City to try his hand in the National League South. Jaanai had hit the target 15 times for the Puritans this season. Tamworth fans will recognise Claudio Dias who is part of the Banbury squad. Claudio was at the Lamb last season having signed from Stratford Town. While Banbury have lost their leading scorer, Tamworth have just welcomed back Chris Lait, the leading scorer from last season and will be pleased with his goal scoring debut with 2 goals on Monday night at Coleshill Town in the Birmingham Senior Cup. The Lambs will also have on loan defender Doug Tharme in the squad with Joe Magunda still struggling to shake off an injury. Greg Kazaboni will be hoping to make a start as he returns to his old club.

On current form the Lambs go into this game full of confidence. They have won 6 out of the last 6 scoring 16 goals and conceding just 3. In a similar comparison Banbury are 8th in the form table winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 1.

Tamworth are hoping for a strong following on Saturday to cheer the team on with the aim of gaining another three vital points in our chase for the title at the end of the season. The details you need for the game are as follows:
