Thursday Aug 8, 2019

In an exclusive interview with,  Head of Senior Football Tom Baillie talks supporters, Team Builder, the Board and the opening games of the new Bet Victor season.

Thomas Baillie has a message on behalf of the Management Team for the fans, Supporters Club, Team Builder and the Board of Directors - “Thank you for your backing”.

“Everything we have asked for has been provided, whether it be the players we wanted to sign, putting players on contracts, pre-season facilities, meals etc. The support and infrastructure at Tamworth is brilliant and we have been backed 100%. Nothing has been denied so it is a massive thank you to everyone involved. However, we know that we have to go and deliver on the pitch as we will have no excuses. Sometimes football does not always go the way you want it to on the pitch, but off it the support has been fantastic. We are setting out to win every football match. I know people talk about stats and philosophies, but the only thing that matters now as we start the season is winning games.

And Baillie believes that Tamworth have been handed a tough start to the campaign. “I know the management team at St Ives very well.Ricky (Marheineke) and Craig (Adams) are good guys. They have done extremely well over the past couple of years and I have a lot of respect for them. They are similar to the way we operate - they demand high effort levels. Their defensive record is fantastic, one of the best in the league last year and they have some good players such as Jake Newman and Josh Dawkin who have played at a higher level. They will be tough to break down and a Tamworth win will have to be deserved."

Following the trip to St Ives Town, Tamworth entertain Bromsgrove Sporting (Tuesday 13 August) and then Peterborough Sports (Saturday 17 August). “Both these games will provide a difficult test as I firmly believe these two sides will be in the top 8 if not the play- off places come the end of the season. Bromsgrove have some great players - Tony Breedon has just signed for them in goal and we all know what Kyle Perry is capable of. Peterborough Sports have 6 players who have played for me so I know they will be strong. These two promoted teams are much stronger than those that got relegated. They are well funded and ambitious. But we have a great squad and everything has been prepared well.

Tamworth will have a full squad to select from going into the game on Saturday apart from Charlie Shaw, Greg Kaziboni and Aaron Forde because of injuries. “We are raring to go and it would be great if we get a good travelling support to back us at St Ives on Saturday.”
