Ladies game abandoned on 75 mins

Sunday Nov 17, 2019

Tamworth Ladies wait on League decision!

Tamworth Ladies will wait on the decision of the league to see if they are awarded the points after their game was abandoned when they were 11-0 ahead.

Tamworth Ladies travelled to City of Stoke on Sunday afternoon and took an 11 - 0 lead. As the game was moving into the final 15 mins the home outfit did not have the minimum number of players on the pitch due to injuries, and consequently the referee had to abandon the game.

Manager Ryan Hamilton spoke following the game "I'm really proud of our girls today, I asked for a clinical performance, to dominate possession and to do it all with a smile. We scored eleven goals which is fantastic, but for me the performance is what I'm impressed with. We started sharp, scoring in under two minutes, then maintained a relentless hunger to win every ball and dominate the game. I thought we were fantastic today and I'm really proud of my team. I thought we showed great team togetherness and the girls showed real maturity. It's disappointing to see a team pull out of the fixture but I wish their players a speedy recovery and City of Stoke all the best for the remainder of the season. Thank you to our supporters who were there in numbers again today, your support is hugely appreciated by myself and the players."

Tamworth entertain top of the table Sutton Rangers Lionesses next Sunday (24 Nov) at the Lamb in a vital game that could point to who will win the title. Sutton have won all their games this season while the Lambs have dropped just two points. It is hoped that there will  be a large crowd at the CR MOT Centre Community Stadium to cheer on the girls in this important game. Kick off is at 2.00pm
