Knights Checks In

Wednesday May 17, 2017

Attacking options boosted ahead of next season!

Darryl Knights today became the latest new addition to our 2017/18 squad, and the first who was not part of the side last season. Knights, 29, is a versatile attacker who can operate in various different positions in the top half of the pitch.

Commenting on the signing, Andy Morrell said "He is a really clever footballer with a lovely touch. He has great attacking attributes but also, defensively, understands roles and responsibilities. He is also as fit as a fiddle - he is a personal trainer- and has good experience whose knowledge will rub off on the younger lads. I am really pleased to have him on board."

Knights spent 2016/17 with National League North rivals Kidderminster Harriers, after winning the division in 2015/16 with Solihull Moors. A graduate of Ipswich Town's youth Academy, he has plenty of experience with the likes of Yeovil Town, Cambridge United, and Newport County.

Speaking to Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald, Knights was already looking forward to pre season. "Hopefully I can bring my experience to the squad," he said. "I have knowledge of this league and the one above. We just missed out in the play-offs at Kidderminster last season but I won the league the year before. At Solihull, our success was built on a strong team spirit. Marcus Bignot also got the balance right between experience and young players. Hopefully we can replicate that at Tamworth next season. We want to be there or thereabouts. That will be the aim."
