Kettle Takes The Armband

Thursday Aug 16, 2018

Joel named as Captain for 2018/19!

Joel Kettle caught up with Matt Panter of The Tamworth Herald to discuss being named as The Lamb Skipper for the season ahead. “I am delighted" he said. “I’m proud to represent Tamworth as a club anyway but to be named skipper is an extra honour. I’m looking forward to the season ahead and we are determined to make it a successful one.”

“From a personal point of view, I feel good in myself,” Kettle continued. “I had a slowish start to pre-season. I am a bit of a slow burner and someone who needs game time. But I thrive once I am playing and felt strong come the end of pre-season. I am feeling in good shape again now. And, team-wise, I think we have a good group here now."

Reflecting on last season, Kettle said "Last year was disappointing of course and we couldn’t brush it under the carpet. Changes to the squad had to be made and the club have made a lot of those. I think the spine of the team is very strong now and we have good players throughout. The signings this summer have certainly been a statement of intent. But our success will only be measured by if we get promoted. This is a big non-league club and should not be at this level. We need to go out and show that though.”
