Jones "Vital To Get Points On Board"

Thursday Mar 9, 2017

Salford 'Man of the Match' looks ahead!

Central defender Luke Jones caught up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald earlier this week to discuss his man-of-the-match performance against Salford City, and also look ahead to this weekends trip to FC United of Manchester.

Regarding Salford, Jones said: "It was good to keep a clean sheet because we haven't had enough of them. I thought we defended well. When we go ahead, we seem to control the game a lot better. They had one spell in the second half but you expect that from a team in second.

"We withstood that though and got a foothold again and saw the game out professionally. We knew they would be direct and they pumped a lot of balls on us but our shape was good."

Jones, one of just two Lambs squad members currently contracted beyond the end of the current season, is now hoping consistency can kick in ahead of an away ties with FC United of Manchester.

"But we are still there or thereabouts" Jones said. "We are not as high as we would like to be at the minute but we will keep going, trying to put points on the board until the end of the season."

"We can only look forward. There are a lot of games still left to play, teams will slip up – a lot have got to play each other – and we can hopefully capitalise."
