Is it a loss, is it a win? No it's a draw at Hayes

Saturday Sep 12, 2009

"We just didn't perform today.", Lambs boss Gary Mills said after his sides 2-2 draw at Hayes and Yeading. After going in 1-0 down at the break goals from Trevor Benjamin and Michael Blackwood put Tamworth in the driving seat, only for home debutant Sean Canham to net the equaliser 13 minutes from time, "The first half was awful and we didn't get going. It was disappointing to concede a goal from a freekick the way we did, but I'm not going to make excuses for my players they know they didn't perform. We did start playing in the second half and dictating play for long periods and deservedly got our noses in front, only to throw it away with a silly mistake on the half way line for their equaliser. And then we could have lost the game, so it's a hard one to work out overall.

Mills comes on as sub at Hayes"I was very pleased for Trevor (Benjamin) to get his first goal today, especially with his right foot! And he did a great job for us after the break when we moved to 4-4-2 from our usual formation and at the end of the day it's a point away from home (which makes four from six in the last two games) and take our total to 17 points from 10 games which is a superb effort from the squad. I will say it again, but we are a small squad and we've played a lot football over the last two months so we're working with what we have and in general I'm very pleased with the way we've been perfoming."

Next up is the visit of Salisbury City to The Lamb on Sat Sept 19, kick off 3pm.
