THE LAMBS started our pre-season schedule of matches with a 1-1 draw against League Two outfit, Mansfield Town...
It took just three minutes for us to take the lead when Ross Dyer found the net from close range against his former club after good work from fellow summer capture, Danny Newton.
Andy Morrell’s men made a bright start to proceedings but The Stags started to get a foot-hold in the game as the first half went on.
This continued into the start of the second period and they duly levelled matters on 55 minutes through Nathan Thomas.
With a raft of changes to both teams, it meant there was little flow to the game, although it was Tamworth who looked the more likely side late on with Steve Tomassen and Leon Mettam going close.
At the other end, substitute ‘keeper, Raaj Gill, did well to deny the visitors late on as the scoreline finished level at 1-1 in front of a crowd of 546.
"It proved to be a good work-out for us," said Andy Morrell. "I was pleased with how the lads performed and it has given us a foundation to build on.
"It's about giving everyone minutes on the pitch and it was nice to also be able to include a couple of lads from the Under-21 team."
