 About Hitchin Town
Our hosts have been members of the Southern League since the end of the 2003-4 season when they moved across from the Isthmian League, where they had spent the previous 40 years. Their manager at the time was Kerry Dixon, the former Chelsea star. As recent as the 2016-17 season the club almost gained promotion to the National League South by qualifying for the Play-Offs. After a penalty shoot-out victory in the semi-finals at Merthyr Town, they took on Leamington in the final. They came within one minute of promotion in normal time before conceding a 90th minute penalty equaliser, and then succumbing to a winning goal from Leamington six minutes from the end of extra time.
Last season Hitchin finished in 18th place, ten points behind Tamworth. However the Canaries got the better of the Lambs in the corresponding fixture claiming a 1 - 0 victory to inflict the first defeat for Gary and Andrew.
Hitchin will be looking for their first win of the season on Saturday having picked up 1 point from their 4 games played so far.
