Greene On Redditch

 Manager previews Saturday's home clash!

“It’s a chance for us to push on and get some momentum." That was the message from Dennis Greene as he caught up with Matt Panter to preview this weekend home Southern League clash with Redditch United.

Greene continued “We need to use the 4G pitch here to our advantage and we have been working on a style of play to help with that. The fans here have been first class since I came in but we need to give them a team with an identity now. We need to give them a team they know and can relate to week in, week out.”

On the opposition, Greene said: “Redditch have a new manager (Paul Smith) and he has been signing some new players. They have brought some lads in from a lower level but they will be hungry and competitive. We have to attack positively, get men into the box, and take our chances when they come.”

On Kettering, Greene added: “Marcus (Law) is someone I know quite well and his team have been knocking on the door for a few seasons now. He has got some talented lads there and it will be a real test for us. It could be a bit spicy that one,” he added.

Reflecting on Banbury, Greene was delighted with his side’s defensive work as they kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw last weekend. “I thought we defended really well," he said. “Jordan Gough came in and did well and Jas Singh looks solid enough in goal. Hopefully we can build on that and then, with just a little bit more effort going forward, it will stand us in good stead. We just need a bit more composure in the final third."

“We had plenty of opportunities out wide to make that final pass but it never quite got there and that’s disappointing. The lads have been attacking well in training but transferring that into a game has been proving difficult so far. We are not going to score goals if we don’t get bodies in the box and we don’t gamble. There were plenty of balls going in there for someone to get a tap in.”
