FA Trophy On Saturday

Thursday Oct 25, 2018

 Lambs travel to Gainsborough!

Attention turns away from The Southern League temporarily this weekend, as we prepare to enter The Buildbase FA Trophy at the first qualifying round stage. Gainsborough Trinity are the hosts for the weekend in a competition that we have not fared too well in over the past few seasons.

2017/18 saw elimination against Warrington Town at the first hurdle, while 2016/17 yielded a similar outcome against Farsley Celtic, with both ties going to replays after finishing as draws first time around. In 2015/16, we did progress past Corby town with a comprehensive 6-2 away win, before suffering an equally comprehensive defeat in the following round away at Halifax Town.

Manager Dennis Greene will have to decide whether to keep faith with the eleven that secured a creditable 0-0 draw with league leaders Kettering Town last time out. Regan Upton and Rhys Sharpe both remain out with injuries, while the likes of Chris Lait and Akwasi Asante, who both featured in the Birmingham Senior Cup midweek, will be hoping to make the squad.

It would be great to see as many Lambs fans there as possible. Should the game end in a draw, the replay would take place here at The Lamb on the evening of Tuesday October 30th, 7.45pm kick off.
