Experienced Midfielder Signs

Tuesday Mar 10, 2020

Tamworth are delighted to welcome experienced midfielder Tom Tonks to the Lamb having signed from league rivals Stourbridge.

Tom has played for Stoubridge in 4 separate spells and has been a key member of the squad in many of their successful FA Cup exploits. He started out at Tipton before enjoying a successful couple of seasons with Halesowen Town. He then made his first move to the Glassboys in June 2015 before moving on to AFC Telford in December of the same year. His stay at Telford was short lived and he was back playing for the Glassboys in March 2016. His impressive displays in midfield earned him a move to Solihull Moors in the Summer of 2017, but limited game time saw him return to Stourbridge again. A serious injury ruled him out of the first half of last season and he went out on loan to Walsall Wood to aid his rehabilitation before a signing for Alvechurch in Feb 2019 to support their promotion campaign. At the end of last season he followed manager Ian Long to Stourbridge for his 4th spell.
Tom is a combative midfielder and has made 28 appearances for the Glassboys this season scoring 3 goals, his most recent start being in the 2 - 0 away defeat at Rushall Olympic on Saturday. He has been named man of the match for the Glassboys on 6 occasions this term and he is especially known for his long throw, He will know a number of the Lambs squad having already been a team mate of Chris Lait and Arron Forde.
