 Lee discusses shot stoppers!

Lamb Goalkeeping Coach Lee Evans took time out this week to catch up with Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald. Evans looked after young stoppers Dan Jezeph, Shaun Rowley and Jack Stevens last season. This year, experienced non-league keeper Jas Singh has arrived and Evans says he can’t wait to work with the former Shrewsbury and Telford keeper.

“I spoke with Mike Fowler at the end of last season and we felt we needed to identify a keeper with experience,” said Evans. “We have managed to get that with Jas. I know of him from the circuit and I have even played against him. He has definitely got the qualities that we need. He’s a leader. He will be influential for us both on the pitch and in the changing room."

“Ultimately we want to win that league and I will be working hard with him to keep clean sheets for us. It’s a good opportunity for me to work with him too. It’s a slightly different task for me but one I am looking forward to. He’s not going to be developing as much as the younger keepers last year. I’ll be there as support with him. We’ll forge a relationship and I will be looking out for him as I would do with a younger keeper,” he added.

Evans, meanwhile, is relishing the new season. “The message to the players is that their mindset needs to be that we are going to win the league. We have to have high standards. The good thing is, first week in, a lot of the lads know each other already. They have had music blasting already and so it feels good to start off with. The players have come to win things. It is time to move forward and there’s a positive season ahead for sure.”
