EVERYONE was pleased to see Lee Smith when he arrived at The Lamb on Saturday for the Emirates FA Cup game against Alfreton Town, but for one fan it was an extra special moment...
Brian Whitehouse was the club representative who accompanied Lee to Lincoln County Hospital following the game against Gainsborough Trinity and stayed through the night until Lee was out of surgery and his girlfriend and mum had arrived.
It was a long night for Brian who was keeping the Tamworth FC officials up-to-date with news as it developed.
‘’The staff at the hospital were brilliant with their care of Lee and when it was realised that surgery was necessary they acted quickly and efficiently," said Brian. "I was able to keep Lee's family updated as they travelled to Lincolnshire and was with them when Lee came out of surgery and was taken into intensive care.
"As a football supporter its not the kind of thing you expect to experience, so it was very pleasing to see Lee arrive at The Lamb looking a lot better from when we were at the casualty department of Lincoln A&E department’’
