Cup Action Returns to the Lamb

Monday Jan 20, 2020

Solihull Moors on Tuesday evening in the 1/4 Final of the Birmingham Senior Cup.

Tamworth are looking forward to welcoming old rivals Solihull Moors on Tuesday evening in the B’ham Senior Cup Quarter Final tie.

Solihull Moors is a merger that was formed when Solihull Borough and Moor Green were struggling to secure gates big enough to sustain the two teams. The merger seemed an obvious way forward and was formed in the summer of 2007. Moor Green were at the time ground sharing at Solihull Borough’s ground in Damson Parkway following an arson attack on their ground in 2005. The new club took the place of Moor Green in the Blue Square Conference North with promotion gained to the National League in 2016
Our record against the teams in all competitions is as follows
 Moor Green P64 W30 D10 L24
 Solihull Borough P10 W3 D2 L5
 Solihull Moors P9 W5 D2 L2

This is the first time the teams have faced each other in the Bham Senior Cup, however, we have played the previous incarnations of the club in the competition. Infact Tamworth played Moor Green in the final on 1 August 2001 (the final was held over from the previous season) which Moor Green won 3-1.

Both teams go into the game on the back of defeats. Tamworth will be hoping to get back to winning ways following the disappointment of the set back on Saturday against Leiston. Solihull lost 2 - 0 at home to Boreham Wood.

Tamworth reached the QF stage by beating Birmingham City and Coleshill Town (both games on penalties) while the Moors beat Boldmere St Michaels (4-1) and AFC Wulfrunians (2-0).

The game kicks off at 7.45 with admission £5.00 for all adults and £2 for those U18.

The other Quarter Final ties are:
 Leamington v Wolves
Lye Town or Rushall Olympic v Romulus
 Nuneaton Borough v Burton Albion
