Connor Stays Loyal To Lambs

Tuesday May 23, 2017

 Taylor re-signs for 2017/18!

Connor Taylor last week committed his immediate future to us, signing for 2017/18, which will be his fourth season as a Lamb. Following the end of season departures of Paul Green and James Belshaw, Taylor is now the longest serving player at the club, having made a total of 120 appearances so far.

A graduate of Aston Villa Academy, Taylor also spent time at both Walsall, and Nuneaton Town before joining us on a permanent basis ahead of the 2014/15 season. Notorious for his high work rate, Taylor is equally comfortable in wide and central attacking positions.

Commenting on the contract extension, Manager Andy Morrell said “We are delighted to have Connor back on board. He is someone who is very versatile and you know what you are going to get from him. He's very reliable and, as a result, always finds himself in the team."

“The thing we need to work on with Connor is getting him a few more goals and assists. He's a great lad for the team but I want him to be a little bit more selfish at times and have more of a final product. What we have seen with Connor in the last three years is that his body shape has developed. He works hard in the close season in the gym and so he's becoming stronger.I also think his game management has developed. He doesn't just run around like a headless chicken now. We are considering pushing him up a bit next season. He has played up there before. He has good energy, is decent in the air and so we may look at him in an advanced role in pre-season."
