Chairman Speaks

Andrews on hopes for rest of season!

Matt Panter of the Tamworth Herald spent some time this week with Lambs Chairman Bob Andrews, and he began the conversation by asking Andrews about the recent home draw with Darlington.

“I thought the crowd supported us very well against Darlington on Tuesday night (a 0-0 draw),” Andrews said. “They were singing and really backed the lads. I just want them to do it again on Saturday. It is so important they get behind us. The support of the fans really does lift the lads.

Look at the season as a whole, Andrews continued “We probably need about 48 points in my opinion. We have eight games left and we could do with winning four of them really to be safe. That’s the reality of the situation and we need to all pull in the same direction to make that happen. Mike Fowler is working hard behind the scenes and we are supporting him. He has added some players to the group and we have discussed other players if necessary. We are determined to make sure we stay in the division and then kick on again."

Andrews said he was bitterly disappointed with how the season has panned out to date. “I am a supporter as well as a director,” he said. “So, of course, this situation hurts. Do fans think I want to go to travel the length of the country to see football matches and watch us lose? I never have done and never will. I am a winner and I want us to be successful. We have got to keep fighting and make sure we get those extra points to keep us in the division.”
