Now the fixtures have been released, summer signing, Andy Burns, can’t wait for the action get underway...

“You know the season is getting closer once the fixtures are announced,” said the former Barrow defender. “I can’t wait for the action to start, to be honest.

“It’s clear to see already that we have a lot of quality here; the squad is really starting to take shape and there will be a few more new additions before the season starts, so these are exciting times.

“As well as ability, though, to be successful in this League you need 100% commitment to the cause. It’s about having the right characters who will work hard for each other.

“Last year at Barrow we treated every game like a Cup Final, and whilst there will be some weeks where things don’t quite go to plan, you have to have the right attitude.

“We want to make ourselves difficult to beat and a solid unit.”

So, how is Burns finding pre-season training?

“It’s been good so far,” he added. “It’s different to what we did at Barrow, but the lads are enjoying it.

“We’ve done a lot of ball work and fitness work so far, which will benefit us when the season gets underway”
